Born in Southern Nova Scotia, Amanda Rhodenizer now lives and works in Montreal. She earned her BFA in 2006 from NSCAD University, and is the recipient of a BMO Invitational Art Competition prize, as well as the Paul Soldner Scholarship for the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Colorado. She uses traditional materials in her works, coupled with subject matter that often plays between notions of the familiar and the anonymous. Her most recent projects deal with expectations in domestication and adulthood, as well as a nostalgia for the folk-art of her rural roots.
